Trip Overview

The Maasai Mara 3-day Maasai Mara safari includes a 3-day, 2-night safari in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, home to the Big 5. Located about 260 km from Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, the Maasai Mara National Reserve is considered the pride of Kenya, Africa, and the world. It is renowned for its wild cats (the Big 5) and the seasonal wildebeest migration.

The Maasai Mara borders the Serengeti National Reserve in Tanzania, and together they provide a home for over 95 species of mammals and more than 500 species of birds. Some of the animals you can find in Maasai Mara include lions, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, elephants, and zebras.”

Packing Checklist

DAY 1

Nairobi – Maasai Mara Safari

Accommodation: Mara Enkorok or similar

 

6:30 AM

You’ll be met by a company representative at the hotel or airport for a briefing on the journey. Afterward, you’ll embark on your journey to Maasai Mara.

Mid-Morning: Viewpoint Stopover

There will be a stopover at the viewpoint to enjoy a scenic view of the expansive Rift Valley escarpment, offering breathtaking vistas of the valley below.

Lunch Time (Around 12:00 PM)

We will proceed to Narok town, where we will have lunch before continuing our journey to Maasai Mara.

3:30 PM

Upon arrival at the camp, we will check in and head out for an evening game drive. This is an excellent time to spot wildlife as the animals become active.

Evening

After the game drive, we will return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 2

Maasai Mara Full Day Safari

Accommodation: Mara Enkorok Tented Camp or similar

 

Early Morning

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for a morning game drive. The drive will take you to the iconic Mara River, where you might witness the spectacular wildebeest migration. Early mornings offer the best viewing conditions, with clear visibility and large herds of wildebeests and zebras on the move.

Mid-Morning at the Mara River

At the river, you’ll have the chance to see crocodiles, hippos, and wildebeests in their natural habitat. If lucky, you may experience the great migration, a natural phenomenon that occurs between July and late September.

Lunch Time (Packed Lunch)

Enjoy a packed lunch in the heart of the wilderness while taking in the beauty of the Maasai Mara.

Afternoon

The game drive continues, offering more opportunities to spot wildlife, including predators and the Big Five, in their natural setting.

Evening

Return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s incredible experiences.

DAY 3

Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Early Morning

Start your day with a cup of hot coffee before heading out for an early morning game drive. This is a great opportunity to spot predators on the hunt and witness the Big Five in action during the most active time of the day.

8:00 AM

Return to the camp for a hearty breakfast. Afterward, begin preparations to check out of the park.

Optional Activity: Maasai Village Visit

Before leaving the Maasai Mara, You have the option to visit a nearby Maasai Village, where you’ll enjoy traditional Maasai dances and immerse yourself in their rich culture. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase unique curios and handcrafted items at reduced prices.

Mid-Morning

Depart from Maasai Mara and begin the journey back to Nairobi, with a stop at Narok town for lunch.

Lunch Stop at Narok Town

Enjoy a lunch break in Narok Town before resuming the drive to Nairobi.

 

Late Afternoon Arrival

Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari adventure
